I Still Love You

Project and Portfolio 1

This piece was created for Project and Portfolio 1 course at Full Sail University. This track was inspired for my love and passion towards music. As a drummer I really enjoying making people dance and move to the beat. One of the first thing a good friend of mine told me was as a drummer it’s your job to keep time and make the people dance so that’s how I came up with this track. I just wasn’t to make you all dance. It’s a vey pop sounding track in my opinion the sounds a very happy even though it’s in a F minor witch is a very spooky/ sad sounding key. 
The way the drums move and how they were designed was to simply make you dance. The way they cut through mix from the crack of the claps to the punch of the kick drum should make you wanna dance. The shaker and the percussion parts are very simple but still design to make you move. The bass is the foundation to the track I used the same notes throughout the song because it made the song drive. It also made my kick drum sing as a drummer I love when the kick drum and the bass lock together it just adds so much energy and constancy to the music composition. Not a lot of notes but just enough to get the groove across. 
They harmonies you hear are made up of an Fm Db Bb Db Fm7 C Bb Eb9sus. These chord are used to make this song come to life they add body to it and still allows it to breathe and make you dance. The medley lines that your are hearing makes it sound like a video game. Witch to me makes it fun to listen when I created it I was based on how I was feeling at that moment. I truly just played what felt and after the third take I was like this is the one. I played some counter melody stuff after I finished the other parts in the song because I felt like it need a little more icing or candy on it.
The sounds I created to me where really cool I created them with the ESP one sound was more of a percussion on track 22 sound that moved around in the rhythm you are hearing with 16note Triplets In it since I’m a drummer I figure to make a percussion sound. The other sound I created was the counter melody on track 82 I also used the ESP on that sound. It’s very synth pop sound with just a little air in it so it can breathe. I really enjoyed making my own sounds it was fun. Recording with mic was cool I recorded my vocals in my studio and had a blast doing it I created the vocal part just sing random words and came up with a pretty cool hook I think at least. It all came to me in a moment and I song it and this is what came out I think for sure it’s a really good start to something that maybe a great song later on. 
Lastly the dynamic processors I used on this assignment add the punch I need on the kick and the crack I needed on my snare drum. I used a little time delay on my harmonies to add the smooth decay your hear as it resonates through the song. By panning EQ and  mixing each track gave the overall consistency of this track. The way the drums cut through and how the melodies and the vocals sit on top of the mix all comes from the way I like the way my mix to sound and just putting everything in the right place. I really want to feel good and allow the listener to feel my passion and emotions through the music.
